Meet the cast of “A String of Pearls” written by Elizabeth Hansen. This play was adapted from stage to Audio Drama in 2020 for exclusive release on Dramafy. Elizabeth recently virtually sat down with the cast and recorded their conversation about what went into creating the Audio Drama including rehearsals, recording sessions, understanding the characters, and more.

Synopsis of “A String of Pearls”

During the dark days of World War II, five “plucky” women meet to play bridge on the Homefront, while a world away, their men battle the axis powers. The women rely on their wit, moxie, and friendship to get them through the long, lean years that lie ahead of them.

Elizabeth Hansen – Maxine

Not only is Liz an engaging voice actress, she also wrote the Audio Drama, adapting it from her play of the same name. Liz has done a lot…because she’s old! Broadway credits include A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? She has also performed in the following national tours: Mrs. Malloy in Hello, Dolly! with Carol Channing; Anna in The King & I with Rudolf Nureyev; A Partridge in a Pear Tree with James Mason; Evita directed by Harold Prince. Liz holds an MFA in screenwriting from AFI, has won the prestigious WGA Award and an Emmy nomination, was a finalist for the Humanitas Prize for Excellence in Children’s Television Programming, and a bunch of other stuff.

Lisa Zimmerman – Elizabeth

Lisa is a singer, voice over actor, and voice teacher. In her free time, she likes to explore nature, eat fancy food, and find new traveling adventures. Lisa is proud to be included in such a fabulous cast of women and to contribute to a story of friendship and healing.

Kelly Coombs – Mary Louise

Kelly Coombs is a Utah actress and acting coach who has an affinity for all things Disney. Some of her favorite roles have been Jerusha Abbott in Daddy Long Legs and Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical The Musical. When she is not acting or teaching, she can be found snuggling her doodle puppy, Murphy, and dreaming up her next visit to Disneyland.

Colleen Baum – Harriet

Colleen, from Salt Lake City, likes to do the acting thing, walk her dog, and listen to music. She has a BFA in acting and an MA in Theatre for Young Audiences.

Cecily Ellis – Janet

Cecily holds an acting certificate from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and a Bachelors and Masters of vocal performance from the University of Utah. She’s performed all over the country and is an adjunct professor of voice at UVU. But she spends most of her time just being mom to two little boys and loves every second of it.
